If you need or want to take a Medic First Aid class, Advance Riding Class, Trike Riding Class or one of several seminars, I hope you have signed up to come to Lincoln October 5 and 6th. This annual event has become very popular because each year it has been helping more than 100 members get the training they want to help them ride safer. We all know that when you are able to ride safer, you enjoy the riding much more.
We have been looking in the Huntsville, Phoenix City, and Montgomery areas for facilities to host more training weekends so everyone within Alabama can get all the training they want and/or need in a single weekend without having to travel too far.
We have been working to get additional Seminar Presenters approved in chapters around the district so that some of the training can be handled at the chapter level. Training like Team Riding, Motorist Awareness Seminars, Road Captain Courses just to name a few.
If there is some Rider Education training that any individual or chapter wants to put on, please contact me so we can discuss what we can do to support the request and make it happen.
Your safety along with ways to improve it is my first concern, so please challenge me in any way you can think of to help you improve your capabilities.
Enjoy the journey because getting there is as much fun and the destination itself.

Well how about this weather. If you have rode any at all this year you probably rode in the rain or at the least on wet roads behind the rain. I have made only about 2 rides without one or both this year.
Remember the Region A Convention is coming up September 12th thru 14th at the Lake point lodge in Eufaula AL. Hope to see you all there. Friday morning will be the Region COY selection so come and make some noise for Larry and Penney Anthony Alabama's COY from Chapter T. Thanks to everyone for their support in the COY program.
There will be a couple of seminars presented pertaining to the Member Enhancement Program I would like to see all the chapter MEC's and CD's in these seminars. We need all the help we can get to recruit and retain members. Right now we seem to be fighting a losing battle, so if you have any ideas on how to improve on this PLEASE let us know.
All you chapters competing for Chapter of The Year will have some tough competition this year. Those M's are on the move. Have some good cooks down there also. The way to a man's heart is through his stomach. LOL
I could ramble on all day but I won't.
Hope to see you all in the near future.

We all enjoyed the Big Burger Ride on July 27. The weather was neither scorching hot nor rainy; we had a pleasant ride in the cool morning air, admiring the low-hanging clouds and mist hugging the mountaintops. Randy put on his usual bountiful feast, and we were happy to see our friends from Tennessee -- and Georgia, too! As always, I wished I was 16 again, and able to do justice to the burgers.
Penny and I stole away early in August to get some much-needed R&R (rest & riding) around Bryson City, NC. August is usually hot, but it was oh-so-pleasant on the Cherohala Skyway and Little River Road in TN. We returned home with our batteries recharged and about 830 miles on the trip meter from the weekend trip. It sure seems like the unplanned last minute trips are the most fun. We will never get tired of seeing the smoky mountains.
Later, we took full advantage of the lull in riding activity to get in some much-needed training with Chapter T. Chapter D loaned us Tony Edwards for a fine Medic First Aid Class on August 10, backed up by Robert and Gail Brown and arranged by our Rider Educator, Philip Teasley. We were overflowing with hands-on expertise, and the "war stories" Tony dished up kept us engaged. As GWRRA says, the MFA class is the only one you'll take that is done strictly for others, not yourself! Philip completed the session with a MAD seminar, the new one-time requirement for the Levels program.
Greg Dempsey, Frank Teasley and Robert Brown presented Intermediate Leadership Training on August 17. Chapter M visited our Chapter Gathering the night before, and once more I wound up handing money to their CD, Randall Shirrah. (How does he do that?) We had a nice time visiting with members from Chapters G and M during the class. And Greg became my BFF by making me an offer I couldn't refuse on a replacement for my drowned CB radio. He will be presiding over an Advanced Leadership Course at UAB West Medical Center in Bessemer, on August 31.
September promises to be a busy month. The annual Ride for Kids will take place on September 8 at Barber's Motorsports; here's your chance to get in some parade laps on the fine track at Barber's!
"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"
