-- District Director
I would like to begin this months article with a huge THANK YOU. All of the chapters in Alabama now have an MEC in their chapter. The contacts that they make each month from the monthly ARL will help to make those people aware of the chapters and meeting places for those chapters. Last year Alabama made 100% of their contacts. Ken & Veronica Campbell have been active in this effort and have visited each chapter encouraging members to step up and be a part of this program. Please when you see them or one of the chapters MEC's given them a pat on the back and THANK YOU again.
Snowball was this past month and there was a good attendance. There were seminars for COY/CHOY, Rider Education and Financial Reports. For all of those that attended those seminars we hope something was gained and you are able to take that information back to your chapter members and share it with them.
A new program was presented at the Officers Conference. We felt that "IT" had been around long enough and needed a vacation. The new program is called "Everyone is a Participant" The Chapter Directors now have the information and will be presenting it to the members at their chapter meetings. If you haven't heard about it you should soon. We think you will like this as a money reward is involved. All that you have to do is participate.
We want to put the FUN back into our organization. There are four chapters that have Chapter Fun Days planned. Plan as chapter to support them. They have put a lot of time and effort in their event so that all will have a good time. If your chapter wants to put on a fun day activity just plan on using the KISS method, Keep IT Simple. If you plan it they will come.
Thanks for choosing you chapter assignments for the Alabama District Rally. We cannot do this without your help. If we can help you or answer any questions please just let us know. The District Team is here to help you.

Greetings fellow riders, we would like to start this month's news with a special thanks to all who attended Snowball and the officer's conference in Prattville earlier this month. We had a great turnout for both events. Three classes were held in the morning and all three were well attended with much valuable information given out. We hope everyone had a great time playing games, seeing old friends and sharing a few laughs along the way.
Part of our discussions during the officer's conference was the worker bee schedule for the upcoming District Rally in Mobile. We passed around a list of needs and ask each chapter to help us out in those particular areas. You all responded very well and we appreciate your volunteering for the assignments. We will be sending out the schedule very soon for each chapter. We still have a couple of needs if anyone can help us with them. Both of our current needs are people to work the ticket sales table during the second shift both Friday and Saturday. These are the 12:30 PM until 5:00 PM times both days. We need 6 volunteers for each of these two shifts. If you can help out during those times, please let us know in the next few days so we can complete our schedule and finalize plans for those. Again, thanks to all who have volunteered so far, we could not put on the convention without you. Remember, this is our chance to shine for all of our other attendees, so let's put on the best convention yet!
As the riding season approaches, many chapters are making out their ride schedules for the year. Please make sure to include all of the District Conventions and Chapter Fun Days in your ride schedule. We want everyone to participate in as many of these events as possible so let's make sure that everyone is aware of the dates for these events.
Speaking of events, first up is a Horizons class on Feb 9th and 10th at the UAB Medical West training room in Bessemer, Al. This is our first training class of the year and we hope you can attend. Greg and Rene put on a great time with fun, games, and maybe during the day and a half, you might just learn a few things about GWRRA and about yourself. Come on out and join them for some fun and knowledge. Next up is another class on Feb 23rd, Chapter Leadership Skills. This is the second class of the Horizons program. This class builds on what you learned in the first. It is only a one day class so plan to attend this one also. Next up on March 2nd is the first Chapter fun day of the year. Chapter Y will have their annual fun day at the Gardendale Civic Center. Be sure to put this fun event on your ride calendar and come out and help them support Camp Smile A Mile. This is always a lot of fun and a chance to see some friends you may not have seen since last year. Make plans to attend. The first District convention is also in March, the Florida District Convention. This year it is scheduled for March 21st, 22nd, and 23rd. We hope you can make plans to attend. Information is on the Florida District Website.
We would like to thank each of you again for all you do for your chapter and your district. We are here to support you and your chapter and will do anything we can to help. Please let us know if there is anything you need. Please remember all of our men and women in uniform as they work to protect our most valuable asset, our freedom. Also remember all of our first responders and all they do for us on a daily basis. When you see any of these folks out and about, give them a great big THANK YOU!
We hope to see all of you out on the road

-- Membership Enhancement Coordinators
Well we are getting off to a good start in the New Year. We have had our first event which was the Snowball Officers Conference in Prattville. This was a great success. We had a few seminar updates to help everyone do their jobs even better.
I even managed to get the last Chapter ME I needed to get us up to 100%. This came from a chapter that I thought I would have trouble getting someone to fill the position. Thanks to all the CD's and MEC's for making this possible. I had set a goal for 100% by Convention time in April. Thanks again for all that you do.
I have run into expired members that claim they never got a notice that their membership was expiring, and some did not even know they were expired. After doing some checking some of them had changed their address up to 3 times or had changed phone numbers and emails without doing an update with Phoenix.
I suggest CD's and ME's to check member info with the Chapter ARL. Take it to your next meeting or make contact with each one just to confirm you have the right info on the ARL. If anything is incorrect have them call GWRRA in Phoenix at 1-800-843-9460 and update their info. It only takes a minute to do this. We sure don't want to lose a member by accident.
Even computers mess up from time to time so if you have someone that has been active and they show up on the expired list, contact them they may not even know it.
